Birthday Cards

Finally had some time to play in the craft room a couple days this week.  Sure felt good.

A cute idea.  Today I showed it to my almost 3 year-old granddaughter and she really loved it.

I love the balloon punches!  The sizes all work well together to give some depth to the card.

And who wouldn't love a 4 scoop ice cream cone! Looks yummy!

Last but not least, a masculine card.  The beautiful DSP makes this a quick card.  I hate to put too much on the front because it covers up the beautiful pattern.

Here is my little helper today.  When sorting through some scraps looking for a piece of card stock that would work for our project she found a long strip of Real Red.  She told me "I need to just hold this one".  Yep - she's got the crafting gene.

Cards and re-using calendar pages

Just a few cards I made this weekend.   In December, the Paper Pumpkin was a calendar - individual pages for each month on a nice wire easel.  So what to do with those pages after the month has ended?  I couldn't just throw them away.   February was on a beautiful background of violets.

So, I removed the month which was adhered with dimensionsals and that left a couple torn spots on the paper.  No problem - I just had to arrange my card so those were covered.

For this one I used Blackberry Bliss and Old Olive as they seemed to match the card.   Pretty simple but love the colors.

And then I wanted an accent color and just hap
pened to have So Saffron on the table from another project.  I wanted the birdhouse to stand out so I stamped it on a second piece of Whisper White and cut it out with a small circle punch (maybe 1/2 inch) and popped it on with a dimensional.

While I was playing I wanted to try a card based on one I saw on Pinterest.   The original had used a pale pink, medium pink and dark pink.  I couldn't come up with a combination of pinks that I liked and tried with Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe and liked those together.
The ribbon is from Sale-a-bration several years ago - Calypso Coral and Lucky Limeade.

Here is my version of the pleat card.  I have seen lots of these on Pinterest and decided it was time to try it.  Very easy and looks nice.  This one will be traveling around the Midwest in a Round Robin Shoebox party.  I will make up kits for 6 other cardmakers and send them to the first person.  She will make one of my cards and add her own kits to the box - then send to #3.  #3 will make the 2 cards in the box and add her own - and so on until #7 receives the box.  She will make my card (last kit) and all the others and add her own to the box before sending it to me. When I receive it, I will have 6 card kits to make some beautiful cards and will add a new card kit.  Wonder how long we can keep that going?

Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend - but that is how I like it most times.

Saturday we had Easter dinner with some of Tom's family.  I put the ham in my large slow cooker and the potato casserole in the other slow cooker.  Really easy.

The Easter bunny visited and Adelyn found 34 eggs!  It was so funny - she would see the one that blended into the rocks and was partially hidden but would not even notice the brightly colored ones in the open.

We had our whole family together - and everyone looked at the camera - sort of.

This is the 4 generations both maternal and paternal in Tom's family.

And these are Tom's parents with the grandkids and great-grandkids that were here.

After everyone left, I spent some time in the craft room.  I had several months of Paper Pumpkin kits that I had not done so I started with those.

One kit had flowers and leave to punch out to make several cards. There are always enough pieces to use on additional cards.  The card on the left has some of the 'extras' on it.

And another kit had coordinating envelopes.  Added class!

Another design to coordinate with the envelopes.

This set was fun to play with. I wanted to use one of these on Sunday morning for a friend's birthday- but I made an error when writing inside the card........so.......

I created these 2 cards from that one.  I cut the speckled background in half and them trimmed it so it would fit on a piece of Bermuda Bay.  Then put those on a Soft Sky background.

Sunday was church - Alleluia - He is Risen.
After church, Tom was napping, Bekah was gone and I sat and watched some of my
Love Comes Softly DVD set while I stitched.

Finished up this charity square.   I used the Sulky thread that is variegated deep rose and purple.  It was fun and relaxing.  Just what I needed.
