Back again

Align RightOk, so it has been a while. I have been busy to say the least. I have done approximately 30 charity squares so far in 2008. I have most of them posted at Webshots but have more to scan and post.
My daughters (16 and 18) and my sisters spent some time together over spring break. We went into NYC one day and walked Seventh Ave (Fashion Ave) and Fifth Ave. Then saw Hairspray at the Neil Simon theater. We all loved the play but the girls especially loved the male lead as he was someone they 'knew' from the show Making the Band which they watched every week back in the 90's. After the show they were able to get their pictures taken with him and the female lead. It was a memorable day for all.
The online charity stitchers group that I moderate was able to get a quilt out to a woman with cancer. She passed to heaven within days after receiving this gift of love. We pray that the quilt comforted her and will continue to comfort her family as a reminder of her and the love of others.
You can see the quilt at Lighthouse Quilt.
Well, off to more stitching between printing invitations to a Women's Tea at church, writing thank yous and probably doing some sewing on a dress for my DH18's Renaissance Fair at school. And have to take DH16 to an appointment this morning, look for a prom dress and then cat to the vet this afternoon. So I'm off and running!

Thank you gift

This is a bread cloth that I cross stitched as a thank you gift for my friend who took my girls under wing on their mission trip this summer. It was the first plane trip for both my teenage daughters and I couldn't go along so Susan was a surrogate mom to them.
I love how it turned out and may have to make one for myself - yeah, right..... along with all the other things I am going to make for myself. Someday????

Fernanda - Brazil Love Quilts

The most recent delivered quilt that I had a part in. The squares were stitched through a group I belong to specifically for Fernanda. Each square is a couple from a different country. I stitched Saudi Arabia - but you can't see it on this photo as it is behind Fernanda.
It is such a great feeling to see the photos of the child who receives the quilt.

This is one of the children that I stitched a square for. How could you say no to these kids????? Last year I stitched over 100 squares for charity and this year have stitched 90 items which includes bookmarks and ornaments too.

Premiere post

Well, this is my premiere post to blogging. I enjoy blogs from several of my friends so thought I would try it myself. Not sure what I will post about but time will tell.
I love crafts - of all kinds. I stitch quilt squares for charity and moderate a Yahoo group of stitchers to help promote the many charities that can use craft items. I also love stamping and making cards and scrapbooks but have been so involved with cross stitching quilt squares that I have not done the others for a while.
I am slowly pulling away from some of the cross stitching (I think I need a 12 step program!) and trying to fit in some other fun things like reading.
