Something old, something new

Had a day off today so have been playing with some card stock :-)  I needed to get some samples done for a workshop this weekend and used a piece of some retired Designer Series Paper - Everyday Enchantment.  So when I finished with my samples, I decided to use up the sheet and make some birthday cards.   Here are some I made using the 'old' DSP and some 'new' items.

This is the sample for the workshop.  We are going to do heat embossing and I did this one to see how the Wild Wasabi embossing powder would look on Wild Wasabi cardstock.  I wound up heated one section too much and sort of bleached out the color of the embossing powder so I overheated all of it.  Then I sponged over it with Soft Suede.  The stamps used here are from  Elementary Elegance - both it and the DSP were Sale-a-bration items that I got free.
The something 'new' is the Baked Brown Sugar ruffled ribbon.  Love this stuff!

Calypso Coral is used for this card.  The ribbon was another item from Sale-a-bration the same year as the DSP.  The stamp set is Simply Sketched, a new hostess set.  The vintage button is a new item this year.

On this one I flipped the DSP and used both sides.  The 'new' item is the two candy dots.  They look like brads but don't add the bulk to the card.  Love them!   Stamp set is Perfectly Penned.

I paired the Calypso Coral with Basic Gray for this card.  The paper doily is the 'new' item.  They came out some time ago but they are fairly new for me.  The brad is from Sale-a-bration too.

And here are a few cards that don't really have anything 'new' on them.  Just using up the sheet of DSP.
The little butterfly brad is from the Sale-a-bration also.  I love free stuff!  The brads coordinate so well with the DSP.

Just a little different version of the same items.

Now - back to playing - have a punch art workshop in a couple weeks and need to find some designs.

SALE-A-BRATION is here!

Sale-a-bration is here! This is the best time of the year for Stampin Up - lots of chances to get free merchandise and Stampin Up has outdone themselves in the beautiful products they put together.

These is what greeted me when I got home last night. Although I was tired from a lack of sleep the night before (just could not sleep) and a trip to the airport after work with DH to transport some relatives to the in-laws for the weekend celebration of his parents 60th anniversary (can you believe 60 years!), I had to dig into the boxes instead of crawling into bed like I planned.

I had orders for two workshops to sort so I spread everything out on the floor.

The two hostesses really got some deals. For a $150 dollar or more workshop they received a beautiful tote bag - exclusive to the 2012 Sale-a-bration. One of the hostesses used her money to purchase the color caddy - a good choice!
So - that accounts for 3 of the boxes (2 orders plus the color caddy was shipped in it's own box) - so what was in the fourth box????

Yep! More stuff - and this is all mine! I made sure to stock up on all my papers and adhesives - plus embellishments I plan to incorporate into workshops over the next couple months - so I got the beautiful tote too! Now - can't wait to play with some of it - but that will have to wait until tomorrow as we have to celebrate the 60 the anniverary first. Oh, I do have to decorate a basket for the cards - I knew I could find an excuse to play :-)

More Previews and a Tutorial

Here are some more cards featuring new products from the Occasions Mini Catalog (Jan 4 - April 30,2012) and the Sale-a-bration promotion (Jan 24 - March 31, 2012)

I have to admit I was not thrilled with the Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp set when I saw it in the Occasions mini catalog - I am just not a big gnomes fan. I received it free through a demonstrator challenge so thought I better play with it a litte. It is fun to color and experiment with the different stamps. On this card I used 4 stamps (girl gnome, watering can, mound of dirt and the bunch of flowers). I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to get the placement of the stamps exactly where I wanted them. If you haven't used a stamp-a-ma-jig or need a refresher, check out my new tutorial HERE.

Here is a close-up of the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper and Brads and Ribbons. These are all part of the 2012 Sale-a-bration promotion. You can receive these or other items free with every $50 in merchandise you purchase. A great way to get more for your money. The ribbon on this card is actually two ribbons twisted together.

Here is another fun little gnome. This image is done with two stamps (male gnome and a lantern). Once again I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to place the lantern handle in his hand. This card also uses some of the Everyday Enchantment DSP and ribbon.

Here is a close-up of the ribbon and image. The Lucky Limeade and Calyspo Coral ribbons are very sheer and shiny.

This is another card using the Everyday Enchantment DSP. The stamped images are from Four Frames and Bring on the Cake. The Stamp-a-ma-jig again was very helpful to get the placement of the sentiment in the center of the frame. I used the Calypso Coral ruffled ribbon and the Decorative label punch on this card.
